Handcrafted Strat with Tonerider Pure Vintage PickupsGreat Sound, better than Fender! Installed in a handmade strat. Body is Tasmanian Oak. Neck is maple with Rosewood fretboard - Bazz (10/12/2007)

Pickups received in good time. Installed, tested, sound really quite exceptional just as described - intergalacticmegallama (29/09/07)

Whittaker Guitars Jag 1 with Tonerider Pure Vintage PickupsI’m very impressed. Installed in my latest solidbody, they sound pretty damn good. The glassy ‘twang’ is nice. The presentation is excellent, and they appear to be well made.
I didn’t have stock Fender pickups handy for comparison, but I did compare with various EMG’s, Rainbows, and Dimarzios, and the Toneriders compare well.
I’ll seriously consider specifying Toneriders as standard fitment for my solidbodies.
Whittaker Guitars (April 2008)

Overall, I’m impressed and a great improvement over stock, so far, after trying so many pickups, these are definately up there with the best. These are a bargain, they are quality pickups and regardless of price they are a great investment if your priority is to sound good (and isnt that the point) and not concerned about brand name. Grab them before the masses discover how good these are and the prices go up.
I dont care where something is made as long as its quality, everywhere makes crap and everywhere makes first class stuff as well, you just have to find the good stuff and these definately rate very highly and as good as any. Looking forward to trying some of theyre buckers next :-) 1coolbanana (15/12/06)

I found out about Tonerider by chance, searching on the net. I was first of all impressed by the quality of the recorded tracks tested through various amplifiers, as well as the sound of course. So I ordered the Pure Vintage Strat model, (from you as it happens), and fitted them on a Squier, a very basic set up. On recieving the pickups I closely examined them, the manufacturing quality is irreproachable, even better than certain brands with a higher reputation, which will remain nameless. After fitting them, testing the sound left me breathless, my Squier is no longer a basic guitar. Michel (12/06/07)

Stratocaster Classic Blues | Harmony Central Reviews | Buy Online

I Have installed the Classic Blues set on my 20 year old bitsa Strat – (Fender body, generic neck). The sound is excellent, gutsy and full. It used to have Lace Sensor pickups which on this guitar at least were lacking in treble and sustain. As I like to use the neck pickup for lead, I put the bridge PU from the new set in the neck position to get maximum output. These are a big step up in quality and excellent value! Robert (28/04/08)

I received the pickups today - thanks for the quick service! Installed them this afternoon, and I can’t wipe the smile off my face, they sound fantastic - thanks for a great product. Phil (30/06/2008)

The pickups are great they really sound good & I love the enhanced bridge

City Limits in an Elite StratCity Limits Set in an Elite StratTonewise I’m very pleased - the mid and neck pickups are not so very different to the old Seymour Duncans (but with better cross-string balance now I’ve sorted the top E, and slightly more natural sounding) and the bridge pickup is MUCH better - louder and not so harsh. Qualitywise they’re very nice, and the little details like the screws, circuit diagram etc are excellent. John (06/07/2007)

These pickups have great tone! Very clear pure strat tone! This set is very versatile & can go from crystal clear Knopfler sounds, all the way to balls out SRV!! Bridge pickup is very tasty & not too “ice pick” ear piercing, great for gritty solos! Positions 2 & 4 are classic strat twang, & neck & middle are very sweet sounding to! For the price you can’t go wrong! I had kinmans before these, & I have to say the toneriders are up there! The kinmans are noisless & the toneriders do have a bit of “classic” single coil hum, but the kinmans cost $650, so I’m not complaining at all for $129 for a set of toneriders! For the money you cant go wrong with these pickups, I wanted a set of strat pickups with a wide range of tones, & these have delivered so far! I bought these from Powerhouse Music & Technology in Australia, paid online & recieved the pickups two days later! Excellent service, & they were very helpful in answering all my questions before purchasing!!

G’day Mate, Got the picks - thanks. Just to tell you, I fired up the tele I have just finished with the Tonerider city limits pickup I bought from you sandwhiched between a set of Tonerider tele pickups - Absolutely impressive tonal variety great pups!! Bob (12/06/2007)

Tonerider Hot Classics - White String in a 52 reissue teleThe Hot Classics Tele pickup sounds sweet and is very comparable to the DiMarzio bridge pickup on my stock 52 reissue - great stinging tone, the way it should be. This pick up is a cracker - great bass response, sweet mids and a top end that will cut your head off - great classic vintage Telecaster tone. Dave (18/03/2007)

I have tried a few p90’s these pups DELIVER!! (Angelo 7/11/07)

Tonerider H90 in Marc’s Gibson Les Paul Got the pickups today, thankyou. First thing I did notice was how VERY sensitive they are to height adjustment. Found a sweet spot and seems pretty good so far. Here are a couple of pics of my Gibson Special with the Tonerider H90’s. Very sweet tone I must add, its got that faint wah wah thing going when bending, very nice:-) (Marc 26/07/07)

Tonerider H90 Pickups in an Epiphone Les Paul - Troy, Blurred Vision“In an Epiphone Les Paul - they have that true p90 sound only with a bit more kick!!! what a great sound!!! Output level on these pickups is great, volume rolled back gives a great clean sound, volume rolled up gives a nice dirty sound but still retains heaps of clarity… - (Dec 2007, Troy from “Blurred Vision”)

“It’s not possible to get a bad tone out of these! Amazing!” (Mar 2008, Heath)

Tonerider H90s in Les Paul ClassicI would say that the pair of pick ups are well matched for volume and for voicing. They sound like good P-90s and – to my ear – sounded far better than Gibson’s current attempt at a low-noise P-90. They don’t measure very hot, but they do ‘feel’ hot. They deliver the classic P-90 bite and bark, but are also amenable to taming via the tone control. The quality of the workmanship is good: indeed, better than you have any right to expect for the price.

My overall impression is of a product that’s been manufactured to compete in the quality pick up market, even though it’s priced as a cheapie. Personally, I will be keeping these in this guitar.

Rebel 90 | Harmony Central Reviews | Buy Online

I found the Rebel 90 has a great fat warm tone with bell like top end. - (Dec 2007, Mick)

That Redback Longhorn F1 with Tonerider Rebel 90’s is a bad bad boy!!! You’re gonna have to try one out. I’m really p^%$^#$d off because after we installed it I spent half the day playing it! Could’nt put it down and did’nt get any work done. Its a bad bad boy!! - Rodney (April 2008) Redback Guitars Australia

I bought a set of Rebel90s from you recently - these are sensational. I have hot-rodded a rather decent Epiphone Firebird with them. A great, crisp but ballsy sound - I love all P90-style pickups, but these exceeded my expectations. - Rory (April 2008)

Gibson ES175 with Tonerider Rebel 90 PickupsGibson ES175 with Tonerider Rebel90 PickupsAfter several months of procrastination, I finally installed a set of your Rebel 90s in my 1996 Gibson (not Epiphone) ES-175, replacing the standard 57 Classic humbuckers. The 57 Classics are perfect for jazz, but I play R&B Blues, and I wanted more bite like my old 1968 ES 330 that I foolishly sold 15 years ago (to buy a bloody digital synth!). Changing PUPs on an ES archtop is a hellish procedure that took me two nights. Would hum size single-coils sound good in a full body jazzer? Should I have bought an established (more expensive) USA brand version? The next morning, when I plugged straight in to my Mesa Boogie F30 head/112 cab (clean channel), all doubts evaporated. Gone are the dark, woolly tones of the humbuckers, now I have crisp, tight tones with just the right bottom end. Vitally, the warm woody fatness of the guitar is still there and you can still dial in great jazz tones if you want it. Crisp and warm without harshness, punchy yet creamy. I’m really happy. - Michael P (May 2008)

Epi Genesis with Tonerider R90 pickupsFirst impressions are that these are amazing! Oddly enough they seem to have as much or more output than the buckers they replaced. The punchiness and definition is way over the top, and notes are clear and articulate. I’m becoming a pretty much all single coil guy now. I have a Reverend Club King 290 with soapbars and a Strat that I put in Duncans, and yours went into a 1982 Epiphone Genesis which has always been my favorite guitar until I got the Reverend. Now it is back on top. Great stuff, man. Thanks! - MWR (June 2008) Emmas Nasty Apple

Framus Hollywood with Tonerider Rocksong, Rebel 90 and Hot Classics pickups!!Have finally got around to finishing my guitar project. I am very pleased with the cosmetics and the sound of the pickups. The guitar is a 60’s Framus Hollywood. I have owned it since 1978 - bought it for $50 from a mate in a high school band. This is about its 4th makeover.
It has a Rocksong humucker at the bridge, a Rebel 90 in the middle and a Vintage Plus tele at the neck. The tele pickup sounds like a tele neck pickup should sound - compressed and mellow with slightly jangly harmonics. The Rocksong is clean and clear for a humbucker with a useful single coil sound when split. The standout for me, however, is the Rebel 90. This is a great pickup ! Powerful, smooth and clear. Love it ! Guy (July 2008)

Squier with Tonerider Alnico Classic IV pickupI am a huge Keith Richards fan and I own a squier Affinity series butterscotch Blonde Telecaster, I just had to have a humbucker at the neck just like Keith does. I rang Steve and he was very helpful in answering all of my questions about the sound and installation. It took me half a day to route the guitar body and solder the wires but the end result is amazing. My guitar sounds and looks very vintage. Tonerider make a great pickup and I cannot wait to get a vintage bridge pickup, thanks so much PoweHouse Music! Rohan (3/11/2008)

The Proloops Telecaster with Tonerider Alnico IV Classic Pickup in the Neck position.I have attached a pic of the tele I installed the classic IV in – we’ve just used it on the new update of our loop site - proloops.com
I love the pickup, it has a great tone, warm with clarity and nice definition. Mark (13/06/2007)

After being blown away by the quality of the Pure Vintage Strat pickups, I went further whith Tonerider and bought a set of humbucker (Alnico4) 1 x PAF4B-NI and 1 x PAF4N-NI , you can guess what followed and to top it all the value for money is excellent, unbeatable is my opinion. In conclusion, A MUST!! Michel (12/06/07)

Rocksong | Harmony Central Reviews | Buy Online

Rocksong Zebra in Tele DeluxeI’m more than happy with the results - big improvement on the stock fender pickups, way better clarity and definition, more drive and a much sweeter sound AND how good do they look? Had a new scratch plate made by Brian West ( fretco ) to accept the new pickups as they were considerably smaller than the big fat ugly fender pickups with the added bonus of having the holes redrilled for the single mounting points and no vacant holes left by the removal of the old ones. Dave (18/03/2007)

Rocksong Zebra in Les Paul ClassicIt is very clear and crisp thru a clean amp and sounds good thru a dirty amp. I was a little worried that it may be too hot. This wasn’t the case and the pickup sounds great for the style of music I’m playing. Sounds even better through my Tube Screamer! Looks cool too. I’m considering an AC4 for the neck of this guitar. More people need to know about these pups! Glenn (02/05/2007)

I installed the pickups last week and played an ABBALANCHE gig with them that night.
Also rehearsed with fairly hefty rock band on Tuesday night. Really lovin’ em mate.
They are brighter than the older pickups but also a bit beefier in the lo end as well.
They are nowhere near as microphonic which is good especially with large sub PA systems.
I am considering a pair for the precision as well! Fully endorsed !!!! Simon Tonx (March 2008)
